Warner Park, Basseterre turned into a party last night as the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots demolished Saint Lucia Kings by a massive 137 runs — their biggest win of the tournament and a home farewell to remember before they hit the road.
It’s back-to-back wins for the Patriots, who beat Barbados Tridents on Tuesday, chasing down 217/4 with Johnson Charles smashing 78 off 45 balls to seal a six-wicket victory at Warner Park.
🔥 The Headline Numbers
- Patriots 235 vs Kings 98 — Kings folded in just 13.5 overs
- Patriots’ NRR jumped from -0.547 to +0.593
- Keeps Patriots’ playoff hopes alive in 5th place
⚡ Dasun Shanaka Rewrites the Record Book
Coming in at 89/2 in the 10th over, Shanaka blitzed an unbeaten 121 off just 43 balls — 8 fours, 12 sixes — smashing the record for the fastest century in CPL history (39 balls). His 93-run stand with Wanindu Hasaranga off only 31 balls put the game out of reach before Kings even walked out to bat.
🌴 Local Hero: Jeremiah Louis
The Kittian talent delivered the moment the home crowd will remember all season: a maiden five-wicket haul (5-for), ripping through the Kings middle order — including back-to-back wickets to leave St Lucia reeling at 74/6. A homegrown star shining brightest under the lights at Warner Park.
🧳 What’s Next: Life on the Road
Fresh off their statement win, the Patriots pack their bags for a run of away fixtures, including:
- vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Providence Stadium, Guyana (Match 28, Sept 6)
- vs Barbados Tridents — Kensington Oval, Bridgetown (Match 32, Sept 10)
- Further away clashes as they push to climb out of 5th and lock down a playoff spot
With momentum, a red-hot Shanaka, and Louis proving CPL-ready, the Patriots take real confidence — and a much healthier net run-rate — into the business end of the season.
